Everyday philosophical encounters between image and word.

Dramatic rays of light pierce heavy clouds above a lush green Swiss valley meadow. Wisps of mist drift through a dark conifer forest on the horizon. A solitary farmhouse sits to the right. The mood is charged – suspended between storm and stillness, between shadow and sudden illumination.

The day has loaded you up.

Messages, tasks, opinions — all at once.

The world hums and presses in.

Image•Thought•Space

Lingering between image and word,
space opens up again for you.

An image. A text. Questions — mine as a starting point, yours as a continuation. And then: shared conversation, open, without a script. You might encounter a question you’ve never asked yourself before. A thought that suddenly finds its name.

A moment to breathe — because you can again
hear and feel what truly matters.

We meet once a month in the heart of the quiet city of Bern, to dedicate ourselves to this amalgam of image, text, and thought.

In a somewhat looser rhythm, there is also an online event of the same format, held over Zoom.

Image–Text Session (~20 min)
From my photographic archive, I read aloud a carefully written text to accompany a carefully chosen image — together they open a space for reflection. With unobtrusive music in the background, you have quiet time for your own thoughts.

Then come the questions: first, questions that feel important to me in relation to the image–text interplay, ones that can broaden perspective. These are read aloud by me.

These questions, too, initially remain in the room in silence — and you choose for yourself which of them will accompany you in that moment. The image and questions remain visible throughout. You can return to them at any time.

Exchange (~40 min)
Afterwards, we open the space for active sharing. Thoughts about the image, the text, or the interplay between the two are just as welcome as personal insights that have just emerged. This is also the space for responses to the questions — sharing what those questions stir, open up, or make possible.

And your own questions, perhaps arising right then, fit beautifully into this shared space for thinking.

After about an hour, the official part comes to a close. I remain available for another half hour for personal topics, reactions, and wishes.

The event is free of charge.

I welcome any form of voluntary contribution.

In person, this might take the form of monetary value or gifts in kind — whatever feels right to you. Even a smile or a hug is a welcome contribution.

For online events, voluntary contributions can be made via the “Buy Me a Coffee” option, or by PayPal or Twint transfer.

None.

No philosophy degree, no photography training. If anything is helpful, it would be childlike curiosity, openness, an interest in the world, enjoyment of thinking, a desire to exchange ideas with others, and so on.

For in-person events, places are limited. It is therefore very important that you contact me at least 24 hours in advance — via the registration form, SMS, email, or phone.

For online events there is no limit on places, but only once you register can I send you the Zoom link by email.
