English:

The greek word „create“, „educe“ (εγένετο, egeneto) means as a noun (γένεσις) „Birth“, „origin“, „emergence“. Fire is a archaic nature symbol and mankind encountered it first in a “undomesticated” way and later on as a culturally and historically important instrument. Fire could be used to do good and evil and it provided protection and might in the wilderness. Fire is also a symbol of transformation, the transition from a physical manifestation of a new, less tangible phase.

Mankind is sitting before the fire since time immemorial and even today the vast majority of people can be deeply fascinated by fire. It’s a little as if sitting in front of the fire makes us return back to the cave.

Once night, I was sitting if front of a fire pot with glowing charcoal pieces for an hour or more. Contemplating on transformation, about creation and destruction, become and let go, I marveled at the constant change in the radiation of the charcoal with the slightest breeze. Then I took the camera and tried to meet this archaic power photographically. This picture was taken freehand with an exposure time of 1.3 seconds, consciously controlled movement of the camera. Digital Impressionism. I like the picture very much, because I feel it contains lots of what I find fascinating about fire and glowing charcoal.

Highly energetic emerging from the lower left corner, unfolding upwards, filling the dark void of nothingness with primal energy. An unstoppable act of creation.

I wish, the warmth of the picture can settle deep within you.

  1. This photo has that “warm impression” on me. I also like the freedom of style and abstraction capacities of “consciously controlled movement of the camera”. Soon I will publish one of mine as a photo response to yours.

    Cheers.

    • Thank you bambadi. I’ve seen your experiment and felt refreshed by the cool colors. So it’s nice to switch between this heat scene and your watery-cool one. 🙂
      cheers
